Contest Opens: January 31, 2012
Contest Deadline: March 31, 2012 at midnight PST
Eligibility: over 19 years of age.
How to Enter Your Photo: Upload images via the “Enter Now” page only. Upload one image at a time. A maximum of 10 images per person, JPEG format only; maximum file size is 5MB.
Photos must be taken at Nordic ski trails/facilities in British Columbia, Canada.
Online voting opens: January 31, 2012 – one vote per photo per person. You may vote for as many photos as you like.
Online voting closes: March 31, 2012 at midnight PST. If you experience problems uploading your photo contact info@bcnordic.com
By submitting a photo, you agree to the following:
You represent that you own all copyrights in the photograph. As a condition of submitting your photo, you unconditionally and irrevocably assign all copyrights and other rights in the photograph to BC Nordic Marketing Society (BC Nordic). You acknowledge that BC Nordic may, at its sole discretion, publish or otherwise use or distribute any photograph submitted by you. Photo credit may be given solely by the discretion of the BC Nordic Marketing Society.
As a condition of submitting your photograph, you (and any other individual depicted in a photograph) unconditionally and irrevocably waive all claims to compensation for use of the photograph, and/or any rights with respect to such use you may have under copyright law, the right to publicity, the right to privacy, the law of defamation, and any other common law or statutory claims under the laws of any jurisdiction. You acknowledge that you have been given the authority by each individual depicted or represented in a photograph to bind such individual to these release terms. BC Nordic Marketing Society reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
Approval of Entries:
BC Nordic reserves the sole right and discretion to approve all entries before they are posted on the contest website.
1. Nordic activity photos only will be deemed eligible: e.g. cross-country skiing, Nordic ski touring, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing are acceptable and eligible to win a prize. Note: Motorized activity is not acceptable. Photos depicting downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling activity are not acceptable.
2. Only original photography will be accepted.
3. Photos that are deemed unacceptable due to inappropriate subject matter (as determined by BC Nordic Marketing Society) e.g. nudity, inappropriate language, comments or visuals will not be approved and will be removed from the website.
Judging:
Ist Prize: The photos will be reviewed and judged by a judging panel from BC Nordic Marketing Society.
The prize will be awarded based on the following criteria: creativity, photo quality, composition, how the photo captures British Columbia’s winter Nordic playground and the discretion of the judges.
2nd Prize: The photo that receive the most votes and satisfies all the contest rules and criteria will be deemed winner of the 2nd Prize. If a photo has received the most votes, but does not satisfy the contest rules and criteria, e.g. submission of a downhill skiing, snowboarding photo, the photo will be automatically disqualified and the next photo that has received the next highest amount of votes (and satisfies all contest rules) will be deemed the winner.
Decisions of the judges are FINAL
Prize Details:
All prizes and prize packages are provided at the discretion of BC Nordic Marketing Society and contest sponsors. Winners must accept prizes as they are awarded and abide by the conditions and waivers set forth by the contributing prize contributor and/or sponsor(s). All prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable, non-extendable and non-redeemable for cash.
Conditions for the Grand Prize package: Trip for the Grand Prize Winner and one guest (two adults). Grand prize trip (valued at $1,400CAD). Prize will be valid until March 30, 2013 with the following blackout dates: December 20, 2012 – January 4, 2013, February 15 – 18, 2013. Subject to availability dependent on dates selected.
The Grand Prize is non-transferable and not for re-sale. If the Grand Prize Winner is unable to accept the Grand Prize for any reason, prize will be forfeited. All expenses not specified in these Official Rules, including without limitation, meals, taxes, gratuities, incidentals and other expenses, are the Grand Prize Winner’s (and guests) sole responsibility. Activities are subject to availability, operating times and weather conditions. Prize winner and his/her travelling companion are also solely responsible for all costs incurred to and from the Departure Point as the Prize originates and terminates there.
The Grand Prize Winner will not receive any compensation if actual retail value of trip is less than projected approximate retail value. Tourism Whistler reserves the right to substitute the Grand Prize in whole or in part in the event that all or any component of the Grand Prize is unavailable, with a Grand Prize or Grand Prize component of equal or greater retail value. The Grand Prize is not transferable, not redeemable for cash, not for re-sale and will be awarded to the confirmed winner only. The Grand Prize Winner and guest must travel on same itinerary.
Other:
By submitting an entry for the Contest, all entrants:
Irrevocably waive, release, discharge and hold BC Nordic harmless from and against any and all losses, liabilities, claims, costs, damages, demands and expenses (including but not limited to legal fees) arising from or in connection with acceptance of a prize or participation in the Contest. The winner(s) will be required to sign a formal Waiver and Release Agreement in this regard where necessary from contributing prize sponsor(s).
